Furniture and decor for patios and gardens
A patio, balcony or backyard can be one of the best rooms in the house when it's set up well. A comfortable chair, a table for meals outside and some soft lighting turn it into somewhere you actually want to spend time.
This category includes patio seating and lounge chairs, outdoor dining sets, benches, side tables, hammocks and garden decor, chosen to cope with sun and rain.
Materials matter outside. Teak and acacia wood weather beautifully and last for years with occasional oiling. Powder-coated aluminum doesn't rust and is light to move. All-weather wicker made from resin holds up much better than natural wicker. Check that cushions use outdoor fabric that resists fading and dries quickly.
Measure your space as you would indoors. Leave room to walk around furniture and pull out chairs, about 30 to 36 inches for paths. On a small balcony, folding or stackable pieces give flexibility.
To make outdoor furniture last longer, use covers or store cushions when it rains, and bring delicate pieces inside over winter. Pair your setup with solar or string lights for evenings outside.
