About Home Improvement Materials
Many home repairs come down to having the right small materials on hand. The right tape, adhesive or wall fixing can turn a frustrating job into a ten-minute fix.
This category includes adhesive and sealing tapes, caulk and sealants, wall anchors and hooks, furniture pads, edge trims, weather stripping, repair patches and other small supplies that keep a home in good shape.
Choosing the right fixing for your wall matters. Drywall needs proper anchors, because a screw on its own will pull out under weight. Solid brick or concrete needs masonry plugs and a masonry drill bit. For heavy items like shelves, mirrors or TVs, find a stud whenever you can, and always check the maximum weight rating on hooks and anchors.
Renters often prefer removable adhesive hooks and strips, which hold surprisingly well when you clean the surface first and press firmly for 30 seconds. For sealants, choose silicone for wet areas like baths and sinks, and paintable acrylic caulk for gaps around trim and windows. Read the cure time before using a newly sealed area.
