Cordless drills, drivers, sanders and saws for home projects
A good power tool turns hours of work into minutes. Driving dozens of screws for a flat-pack wardrobe, sanding an old table or cutting shelves to size is a different job with the right machine.
This category includes cordless drills and drivers, impact drivers, electric screwdrivers, orbital sanders, jigsaws, circular saws, rotary multi-tools, heat guns and glue guns.
For most homes, a cordless drill driver is the first power tool to buy. It drills holes and drives screws, which covers a huge range of jobs. A 12V model is light and handy for furniture assembly and small repairs, while 18V or 20V tools have more power for drilling into masonry and bigger projects.
Look at what's in the box. Many tools are sold bare, without a battery or charger, so check the listing carefully. Variable speed, a clutch setting and an LED work light are all useful features.
Read the safety instructions before first use, wear eye protection, keep hands clear of blades and bits, and remove the battery when changing accessories or storing the tool.
